Turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, cranberry sauce. Dave, Michael and I had it all, when we joined Steve, Camille, and the Ebert kids for Thanksgiving at their new home in Columbus, Ohio.
Dave and I flew into Cincinnati and Michael into Columbus on Wednesday, November 21, 2012. We congregated at the Ebert home for supper that night around the Eberts' round table. It was like old times in Boston--everybody laughing and enjoying Camille's butternut squash soup and salad.
On Thanksgiving morning, we visited Grizzell stadium (Jono's junior high) for the "Chicken Trot," a football game between the Young Women in the Ebert ward and the deacons. The two sides took the confrontation seriously, with a pre-game practice. The deacons eventually won, but it was hard fought.
Mia, Ezra, Annelise, and the new Ebert dog, Oakley, slept in back home.
Sophia and Ezra made homemade pottery beads as the rest of the team set a gorgeous table and made eleven homemade dishes for Thanksgiving dinner.
We had a fabulous meal--great food, beautiful table,close family, and even dinner entertainment by Annelise, Sophia, and Ezra.
Jana Emmer, who is a professor of art history at an Ohio college, and who is also the daughter of Dave and Gretta's friends, Paul and Julie Emmer, was a dinner guest.
When we'd eaten all we possibly could, we relaxed and then played a few rounds of Guesstures, a charade game.

Looks like quite the bounty. I'm sure it tasted better than the alpaca sandwich I had in Peru.
