Easter at Camille's

Rejoice!  April 15, 2017 was a happy Sunday at Camille's house, celebrating Easter.  We were thankful for so many things--that we will see our Calder and Spendlove (and Ebert and Milne and Bastian) grandparents again, that we can be forgiven our sins, and that we can enjoy the blooming beauty of the earth.

This is one of my favorite poems from the religious poet, Gerard Manley Hopkins.  It speaks of Easter and spring:

The world is charged with the grandeur of God.
It will flame out, like shining from shook foil;
It gathers to a greatness, like the ooze of oil
Crushed. Why do men then now not reck his rod?
Generations have trod, have trod, have trod;
And all is seared with trade; bleared, smeared with toil;
And wears man’s smudge and shares man’s smell: the soil
Is bare now, nor can foot feel, being shod.

And for all this, nature is never spent;
There lives the dearest freshness deep down things;
And though the last lights off the black West went
Oh, morning, at the brown brink eastward, springs –
Because the Holy Ghost over the bent
World broods with warm breast and with ah! bright wings.

Annelise set the table with Camille's new blue china an armloads of tulips.

Emilie was home for the weekend from the University of Utah, enjoying her sister Mia and the other children.

Ezra tried Camille's homemade rolls, along with other treats--strawberry smoothie, pork tenderloin, roasted butternut squash, asparagus, and three flavors of pie.

 At twelve, Sophia is now a sixth grader and in Young Women.

 Dave loves good salad--in this case, ours!

Heidi has a cute collection of hats and "fascinators", the half-hats that Princess Kate of England wears.  We enjoy having Alan Dale with us more often on Sundays.

And every party needs both a host and clean-up guy.  Steve is excellent in both roles!
