Memories of Fukuoka

Last March, Jono Ebert came back from his mission to Fukuoka, Japan. On September 27, 2020, we shared a dinner celebrating Japanese cuisine.
Fukuoka, the mission headquarters, is in southern Japan, with a lush, tropical climate.  Jono also served on Okinawa, an island south of Fukuoka.  Okinawa even had palm trees.

Steve and Camille Ebert, Jono's parents, brought katsu (fried chicken cutlet) and Japanese curry. I made pork ramen and gyoza, as well as a Japanese salad dressing.  For dessert we had homemade ginger ice cream.
The centerpieces included chrysanthemums and Japanese dolls.

We had 26 guests for dinner, but I was so busy cooking that I didn't take pictures of everyone.  One of the guests was, of course, Jono!
