All the Spendloves

David's family--his brother and sisters and their children--joined us on December 26, 2016, for a potluck dinner and program.  At the August swimming party, everyone brought entrees and no salads or desserts.  To this party, everyone brought salads and no entrees!  Gretta and Lisa scrambled to heat up a pot of spaghetti sauce and another pot of mac'n'cheese.  "Your children and Nancy's children have finally taken their moms' healthy eating instructions to heart!" I joked with Janice, as we surveyed the dozen bowls of greens.  We had a group of 40, many of them sitting in the back of our living room and not shown by these photos.
After dinner we gathered in the living room, as David, Alan, and Janice told stories about their parents, followed by memories from Lisa, Camille, Gretta, and other family members. Lisa remembered her Grandpa Cliff happening by her Orem home just in time to turn off the water in her flooded house, after she'd prayed for help.  Camille remembered her Grandpa and Grandma visiting the Eberts in Boston, and Camille and Steve driving Grandpa to Rhode Island, the only state he hadn't visited!  As guests arrived, we had each of them write one interesting thing that happened to them this year.  Dave then read the items and had the group guess who they happened to.  It was an eventful year, with everything from divorces becoming final, new babies being conceived (as proudly proclaimed by their fathers!), and "making a new best friend" (said by Alan about his date Vickie) to trips to San Francisco, Hawaii, and India.
