Tempura, dashi with soba noodles, and salad with spicy ginger dressing. Mike and Heidi celebrated Jono's mission call to Japan with an authentic Japanese dinner. Camille brought homemade ginger ice cream to add a final, sweet note.
Heidi, who brings order to the chaos of a Spendlove kitchen, wore the Asian apron from her wedding reception.
The food was beautiful and delicious.
Mike and Heidi's dining table was as artfully decorated as always.
Spencer and Naomi are great kitchen help. Naomi fried the shrimp and veggie tempura.
Dave is especially fond of cute Camille.
Steve has been traveling hard for work the last few months, and it was a treat to have him with us.
The minute they were in the door, Ezra and Mia ran for Mike and Heidi's foos ball table.
It was a delightful party, but also bittersweet. We know that Jono's time with us is limited. He leaves for the Missionary Training Center in mid-July.
As the Eberts waited for dinner, they were as cuddly as stuffed animals, enjoying just being together.
