Nearly fifty-four years ago, Dave and I celebrated our wedding with a fancy brunch for close friends and family at Log Haven, an elegant restaurant in Millcreek Canyon. We returned for dinner on February 8, 2024, to celebrate our retirement and Dave's release from being an LDS bishop. Each dish was perfectly cooked and seasoned, and lights twinkled, creating a fairy-tale world.
A piano and bass violin played dinner music. We wandered the restaurant and found the spot where we thought our wedding breakfast had been served. Our parents and aunts and uncles, who attended that party, are long gone, but my bridesmaids, Jane Ridd Jones and Deanne Henrikson Wilde, are still close personal friends of Dave's and mine, along with their husbands, Spencer and Bob. And, of course, my brothers, Kent and Scott, and Dave's siblings, Nancy, Alan, and Janice, are still an important part of our lives. Dave and I congratulated ourselves for keeping good relationships with our wedding party throughout these many years!Outside the restaurant, we spent a moment savoring the cold, pine-scented air and the starry sky, and letting our memories float around us. We then drove back home to start our new life.
