Dave's and Sophie's Birthday (12.26.25)

Dave and Camille's daughter, Sophie (above middle), were both born on December 26.  For years, we have held a joint birthday party for them.  This Christmas, Sophie was back from her Spanish-speaking mission to Virginia. We held a joint birthday party for Dave and Sophia on December 26, 2025.
The first order of business was dinner, with some of Dave's and Sophie's favorite foods--salmon and brussels sprouts for Dave and a strawberry trifle for Sophie.

Jonny and Jenny joined us with their boys, before leaving to spend a week playing golf in St. George.
It is fun to have time with Grant and Meg, who arrived from Dallas with their two little girls, Junie and Rose.

Spencer and his family are also welcome guests from out of town.  Naomi played with Noah, who is a ball of energy and high spirits. Another Baby Flindt will be born next year.  It is a girl, which is a relief to big sister Eliza, who is five.  "Boys always want to wrestle, and I can't handle that," she says.
For the program, each guest said "nice things" about Dave and Sophie.  Many guests mentioned what a good conversationalist Sophie is--able to talk to anyone about anything.  Guests also mentioned Dave's good judgment and steadiness.  Sophie had to leave a bit early to put on her own birthday party at her home for her friends.  The rest of us listened as Dave sang "Annie's Song", by John Denver, with a karaoke machine Lisa had given her children for Christmas.
"Annie's Song" is a love song, which Dave dedicated to me, as his wife of 55 years.  My eyes welled with tears, and I was not the only guest who felt touched by Dave's sweet offering.
Spencer then played a song which AI had created, after Spencer inputted such information as "LDS bishop," "psychologist," and "used to run but now he just walks."  Spencer also directed that the song be in the country rock style of James Taylor, one of Dave's favorite musicians.  AI titled the song "Slow Poke", emphasizing the "run and now walk" theme.  "He's just a turtle, but he finishes," the singer crooned.
As in any event with little children, the children were a big part of the show.  Soren wandered about as the grown-ups told "nice things," and we couldn't take our eyes off him!
