At the 2013 Spendlove Family Reunion in the Berkshires of Massachusetts, we phoned, texted, and emailed back to SLC all day on July 4 and 5, to hear the latest news on the birth of Jonny and Jenny's first baby. That was Sam, and he celebrated his fourth birthday on July 5, 2017, at this Spendlove Reunion. Sam was ecstatic, to be the center of attention and get cake, a pinata, and presents, too!
Jonny and Jenny hung the condo with streamers, passed out hats and noisemakers, and served Jonny's goat cheese lasagna to get the party moving.
Sam chose a dinosaur/dragon theme for his party, so Gretta baked a chocolate cake (dirt) covered with green-tinted coconut (grass), and Heidi made miniature dinosaurs out of fondant to graze on top.
Naomi wore her party hat to help celebrate.
Sam loved his noisemaker. Mia is a good friend of Sam. They look enough alike to be brother and sister, instead of cousins!
Bryce got a hug from his grandpa.
Annelise is always ready for a good time.
Jonny put a hood over Sam's face (jacket tied backwards) and let him swing at the dragon pinata. It took one whopping hit from Ezra, next in line, to knock the pinata wide open.
The pinata was filled with candy, small toys, and dollar bills!

Jonny lit the candles on Sam's cake and we all sang "Happy Birthday."
Then, Sam opened his presents and the little kids played with them on the grassy hill behind our condo until dark.
