The Spendlove Swim Party

It's a very fun mini-reunion.  Once a year we rent the Northcrest Swimming Pool for a swim party and potluck dinner for our family and Dave's sisters and brother and their families.  The potluck doesn't work so well.  Some years we have just entrees and some years just salads and desserts.  This year, on July 13, 2017, Dave's sister, Janice, and I each brought an array of dishes--entree, salad, fruit, and dessert.  With everyone else's offerings, we had a feast!
The big news at the reunion was that Janice's son, Ben, recently returned from a mission to the Philippines, is marrying his long-time girlfriend, Brittany, on August 26.
Janice's son, Daniel, will be moving from Texas to SLC this summer with his bride, Chelsea.  All of Janice's children will then be living in Utah.  Janice just needs to get her husband, Mark, home from his job as a flight controller in Afghanistan!
Janice's daughter, Charlotte, has two cute sons, Jet and Dax, and is expecting her third child in a few months.
We were delighted that Jenny could join us with Henry and Sam.  They return to Florida tomorrow, after nearly three weeks visiting relatives in SLC.
Sam didn't want to talk with his Grandma, but he did give me a high five and, before he left, a goodbye kiss!
Alan Dale introduced his fiance, Shauna, to the family.

Dave's sister, Nancy, is still in Nauvoo on a mission, so we were particularly pleased that so many of Nancy's children and grandchildren attended the party without their mom around to urge them to do it!  Jill and Brent came with their daughter, Jessica, and Jane came with her son, Jackson.
Nancy's son, Jacob, now has two babies.  Jacob is a salesman with one of Utah's many medical equipment start-ups, and he's loving it.  "They made me a vice president," he exulted.  "I'm not over many people, but I am a vice president!"

Jacob's wife, Melissa, cuddled their son, who looks exactly like Jacob!
Megan is the wife of Jared, Nancy's son.  She is a sunny, capable person who is now serving in a Relief Society presidency in her ward.  Megan brought her mother to the party, who lives in Winnipeg, Canada.
Jared had his hands full with swim wings, towels, and his little daughter.  Jared got a degree in film from BYU and now helps direct one of the series produced for BYU TV.
Dave and I divide up the work of hosting the swim party.  He reserves the pool, advertises the party, and brings drinks and plates.  I make sure there is a variety of good food.  It worked out well this year.  The party was just great.  "Let's do it in July again next year," Janice said.
We're glad she's assuming there's a next time!
