The hands down favorite event of Spendlove reunions is the auction. Everyone brought real and fake treasures, from a rare copy of the Spendlove family cookbook to a fake buffalo head cap, complete with horns. We gave everybody play money to bid with, and the fight was on.
First, though, we enjoyed Lisa's dinner of homemade spaghetti sauce, garlic bread, green salad, and mint chocolate brownies.
We gave each child primary responsibility for one dinner, but everyone chipped in and helped.
Bidders at the auction checked out the merchandise.
Dave, as auctioneer, modeled a Native American black wig, complete with braids. He offered for sale items he had special-ordered--a child-size binkie and an adult one, which came in black or camouflage!
This event was definitely photo-worthy !
The buffalo head cap went on the block.
Here's another treasure--a plastic skull with a snake climbing out of it!
Dave tired of being auctioneer and Mike took over, in his newly acquired buffalo head cap. Mike was as funny as a stand-up comedian in Vegas, and we all laughed and laughed.
Ezra was a big winner--he got the black wig with braids!
