Bernie and Elinor stayed with us through Labor Day, and then they were on their way to visit other friends in Idaho. It is always a treat to get together!
The very most fun of the weekend was just sitting and talking. As friends of 50 years, we have so many delightful memories to share!

Bernie and Elinor also went to the Church Genealogy Library with
Dave. They both found ancestors among the Family Search records. Elinor found records for a great-uncle and
great-aunt, both of whom were killed in concentration camps during the
Holocaust. Elinor was comforted to note
that they were both shown as “murdered.”
Bernie also found records relating to a great-grandfather. Bernie had not previously known his
great-grandfather’s name. The very most fun of the weekend, though, was just sitting and talking. As friends of 50 years, we have so many delightful memories to share! On Labor Day, we drove to Park City and walked down Main Street, with its fun statues of bears and miners.
Park City has both an interesting culture and interesting signs expressing it--"Born by the sea, raised by the mountains."
Bernie and I explored a high end clothing store on Main Street. We checked out the outrageously expensive western boots, made from ostrich, snake, and lizard skins. There were even boots made from hippo and elephant skins, at $1000 per pair!
Bernie chose his favorite boot.
There were also jackets of exotic furs and skins. We returned to the type of place we could afford--a hamburger joint outside Oakley, Utah.
We then showed Bernie and Elinor our cabin, including our hat tree with Western hats. I enjoyed modeling our "road kill" fox skin hat. The creator made his hats out of road kill foxes. He told us he charged more for our hat because the fox still had all its feet!
