Sick Mike (5.30.26)

Mike came home from Somalia and South Sudan with chills and fever, a bad headache, and other flu symptoms.  At a SLC hospital, the doctors diagnosed him with dengue fever.  Dengue fever is transmitted by mosquitos which, Mike acknowledged, were everywhere in the African villages he visited.  A second attack of dengue fever is often more dangerous than the first attack, so Mike plans to travel to mosquito-ridden places in the future with clothes soaked in mosquito repellant, long pants and long-sleeved shirts, and lots of mosquito spray.  We visited Mike on May 30, 2026, to observe his misery and tell him we love him and are glad he survived.
Calder and Audrey hurried to greet us and to show us their treasured possessions.  Mike brought Calder a crocheted rhinoceros from Africa, and Heidi made Calder a green felt dragon.
Calder then brought out more of his treasures, including roly-poly stuffed animals he chose in Japan.  At four, Calder is already a world traveler himself, and he also enjoys the largesse his dad brings home!

Not to be outdone, Audrey displayed her doll and stuffed animal collections, as well as the bright pink beret she got in France!
Heidi was amused at her children's show!
