Sleeping in Seattle (Alaska Cruise 6.5.26)

It is fun to visit Lisa and Kyle any time, anywhere, but Seattle in the summer is magical!  Our Alaskan cruise left from Seattle, and we spent June 5, 2026, the day before the cruise left, visiting San Juan Island with Kyle and Lisa.

Dave adores his daughter.  They talk together for a few minutes every morning, just as Dave used to do with his father.

I love Pike Market, and a trip to Seattle is not complete without a stop there.  Lisa and I bought piroshkies, the Ukrainian pastry filled with cheese, meat, or even fruit.

We decided to travel with Kyle and Lisa on the ferry to San Juan Island.

We whiled away the time, while waiting for the ferry, by eating ice cream cones!

We took a trolley tour of the island.

The sights included a yacht harbor on the other end of the island, and a picturesque clapboard church.

Before returning to Seattle, we ate a late lunch at a seafood restaurant looking out at Friday Harbor.

We stayed overnight at Angel of the Winds, a casino resort where Kyle had lots of points.  He treated us to both dinner and a room.

We ordered half the menu and three desserts!  It was delicious food and over-the-top portions.

Our room was very fancy, as well!
