Terrible Ways to Die (10.11.25)

The theme for the 2025 annual Cemetery Tour, presented by the Park City Historical Museum, was "Death and Disaster--Terrible Ways to Die".  The museum presents a tantalizing selection of monthly lectures, hikes, and special events.  This was the first museum event Dave and I have attended, and we will be back!
The tour, on October 11, 2025, was at the Glenwood Cemetery, founded in the middle to late 1800s, when silver mining was at its peak in Park City.  Impersonators told stories of Park City residents who died by firing squad for murder, in mine disasters, of the Spanish flu in 1918, crashed in a car wreck, and in other unappealing ways.  It was part grisly, part fun, and also a good review of Park City history.

The cemetery was gorgeous, on this fall day, and it was nearly as fun to wander through the brush and trees as to hear the stories!

This lady had been an impersonator for many years of cemetery tours.  She told us how fun it is to get decked out, each year, in a different set of Victorian finery.
We could hardly believe the Glenwood Cemetery, a beautiful and historic place, is so well hidden behind the Park City ski resort.
