A New Nest for Big Bird

I teased Michael, during his last year living with us, that he was like Big Bird from Sesame Street, all grown up but still in the nest. Big Bird now has his own nest, on E Street between First and Second Avenues, across from the Jack Mormon Coffee House.
It is an old Victorian mansion, now divded into four apartments. Michael is in the top front apartment, with two bedrooms and a living room with Victorian sconces and moldings. Michael has feathered his nest with a Pottery Barn couch and cushions and with his exquisite nested dolls from Russia on the mantel. He also is the owner and landlord of the multi-nest tree (i.e. building).

We took Michael with us to supper at Zupas during the week of September 18, 2011. We are delighted that he is moving more completely into his own world, and enjoying that complete independence so much. We are still crazy about him, though, and delight in time to be with him.

We love the soup and salad special at Zupa's, served with a slice of French bread and one chocolate-dipped strawberry.

I'm excited to see the new place when we're out there over Christmas.

Is Big Bird Mike's new nick name? I like it! We can't wait to see his apartment!
