Jonny and Jenny joined us again for Sunday dinner on August 24, just before driving away to North Carolina. Two cuisines we had to fit in before they left were Brazilian (to remind Jonny of his mission) and Indian (to remind Jonny and Jenny of their summer in New Delhi). Darrell and Dave's mom joined us for mango lassi, chicken tikka, basmati rice, fresh pineapple, and potatoes and peas flavored with onions and cumin. We even bought hot naan at the new Indian restaurant in the lower Avenues. Finally, fortified with good ethnic food and all our love, Jonny, Jenny, and Samuel were ready to leave.

Bye-bye, Samuel!
Samuel's first home was ours. Jonny and Jenny lived with us for the first six weeks of Samuel's life, and we came to love him dearly. Finally, it was time for Samuel and his parents to leave for their new home in North Carolina. First, though, we squeezed in a few more celebrations. On August 17, 2013, Jenny's family, the Leathams, joined us for Samuel's blessing. We had a Brazilian meal, including fejoida, sautéed kale, limonade, and flan. Jenny prevailed on Jonny to dress Samuel in his new sailor suit, rather than his green and yellow onesie with the Brazilian flag on it. Since two of Jenny's sisters were moving from SLC the next week, Michael also took family pictures of the Leathams, as Dave held back the limb of the cherry tree so Michael could get a good vantage point.

It' s fun to see the family photo of Jenny's side. We love it when Michael takes our family photo in Seattle.
