Hiking Timp

On July 27, 2013, the Spendlove family hiked Mt. Timpanogas.  Dave started with the group, but turned back when the family moved faster than he was comfortable with.  Steve, Camille, Jono, Emilie, Jonny, and Michael all made it to the top of the mountain.  The day started with getting out of bed in SLC at 2 a.m. and starting on the hike even before dawn broke.  These are Michael's pictures, taken with his artistic eye and great camera.

The hikers wore plastic garbage bags as light, waterproof jackets.  They marched up and up, through fields of spectacular wildflowers and past curious deer.

The family posed for pictures in a field of flowers.

Higher up, the hikers walked through loose shale and saw a mountain goat.

It was exhilarating to reach the summit.
