The Yukon: Tok to Haines Junction (8.20.24)

Bernie and Eleanor eat three meals per day, a new concept for Dave and me.  We had lots of time to talk on our trip over good local food.  We had breakfast, on August 20, 2024, at "Fast Eddy's", Tok's best restaurant.
A motorcycle group was passing through.
Before we left Tok, Eleanor led me into the forest near Bernie's and her cabin.  She stamped on the ground and it was soggy.  Melted permafrost!
Somewhere in that forest, there were probably bears.

By the side of the cabin were rhubarb bushes.  That was a typical sight in Alaska and the Yukon.  There aren't many fruits that grow up North, but rhubarb and berries do grow there.
The drive from Tok southeast, back into the Yukon, was as gorgeous as the Top of the World Highway.

The border from Alaska back into Canada was marked with signs and with monuments commemorating a centuries-old peaceful border.

We saw this red wildflower all over the Yukon.
We stopped at the Kluane Museum of History for displays of the wild animals that live in Canada's Kluane National Park, where we would spend the next two days.

The gift shop also had attractive First Nations crafts.
