David has hiked Mt. Timpanogas some twenty times, beginning when he was six years old. The last time Dave summitted was when he hiked with Jonny in August 2012, when Dave was sixty-five years old. When Dave tried the hike in 2017, when he was seventy, he could get only two-thirds of the way up the trail, and then it was too hard. Dave daydreams about being able to hike Timp again someday.
There's a metal hut on the peak of Mt Timpanogas, which can be seen from the freeway below, when the sun shines on it just right. On a clear day you can see not only Utah Valley, but almost into Nevada.
