One of the benefits of my job as a real estate lawyer is that I sometimes get to wear a hard hat and tour a construction site. That's me at the right end of the front row, on May 31, 2019, touring the half-built, new Salt Lake City Airport. My pals are the Utah chapter of NAIOP, a national real estate developers' trade group.
Our guides were the project managers of this multi-billion dollar enterprise. They were excited about their jobs--airports get remodeled, but it is unusual for one to get completely rebuilt, as is happening to the SLC Airport. As soon as a new concourse is built, an old one will be torn down, and another concourse built, until the whole project is done in 2028.
