Down the Zip Line

On August 2, 2019, David and I spent the afternoon at the Olympic Sports Park in Park City, riding the “zipline tour.”   It was my firm's annual attorneys' retreat, and I could choose from a number of adventures for Friday afternoon.
We rode to the top of the mountain on a chair lift, were issued helmets and a harness, and waited for our turn to ride.  The whole experience then became quite harrowing.  We descended through seven “towers,” and each time we came to a tower, the metal holding us to the zip line slammed into a metal “brake’ with a bang and a jarring impact, which sent us whirling.  Then, as we swung on the zip line, dozens to hundreds of feet above the ground, we had to quickly grab a dangling white rope so the attendant could pull us onto the tower.  By the time we were finished, Dave and I both agreed that was interesting, but quite enough of ziplining!
Dave and I attended the bobsled events during the 2002 Olympics. There were artifacts from the Olympics at the park, including this bobsled.

The evening’s entertainment was relaxing and appealing.  We had tickets to the Utah Symphony Deer Valley concert, which included the 1812 Overture, an excerpt from Sain Saen’s “Samson and Delilah,” a Dvorak Divertimento, and a Tchaikovsky piano concerto.  We enjoyed all the pieces, but especially when the cannons boomed during the 1812 Overture!
Our box suppers included gourmet cupcakes!

The evening was magical, with stars shining brightly above the sparkling theater.
