Mike and Heidi throw great children's parties. On April 5, 2025, Calder celebrated his third birthday with plenty of his favorite toy--trucks! Heidi baked a green truck cake (since green is Calder's favorite color), Mike drew a giant truck in crayon on his back porch (the party place), and all the guests were offered construction hats and orange vests as treats.
Mike bought a new bouncy house for the event. The old one is a permanent feature in Mike's basement playroom, but this one is massive.
Of course, I had to try it.
One highlight of the party was the smashing of the pinata, with all the little guests rushing to grab the candy on the ground.
And of course there was the opening of the gifts, supervised by Heidi. Some of the packages were nearly as big as Calder.
Some guests got thank you hugs.
Dave's and my gift was a rock polisher. When Mike and Heidi took the children to Southern Utah, Calder wanted to stop at every rock shop he saw.
One of the special guests was Grandma Bastian, traveling for Calder's party all the way from Axtell, Utah.
