Hungary and Austria: Balonfureid (6.9.25)

We traveled north, along the coast of Lake Balaton, on June 9, 2025.  We drove from our condo in Keszthely to  Balonfureid, one of the busiest resort cities on the lake.  After strolling the boardwalk, we ordered, for our dinner, a platter that included five different varieties of fish caught in the lake.  It was designed for two people, and could have served four!

People chatted and ate along the lake, as an accordionist played and vacationers strolled, biked, or skateboarded on the boardwalk.

 

Balonfureid, like the rest of Hungary, was full of statues and monuments.  

This rather grisly monument commemorates a boating disaster, with several people drowned in the lake.

We could have ridden a red train around the lakefront.

Or we could just sit on a park bench and enjoy the scene.
