Throwing Myself a Birthday Party

 I heard no rumors about a party for my birthday on March 17, 2015, so I decided to stage my own celebration.  It was a fine idea.  I picked the cake I love best (a Cook's Illustrated carrot cake recipe with a whole fresh pineapple incorporated into the cake and frosting).  I chose the menu (an Irish feast of corned beef, cabbage, and soda bread).  I even chose the decorations and party favors (three varieties of St. Patrick Day hats, and huge green shamrocks on beaded necklaces).  I'll have to make this an annual tradition!
