A Wedding Reception for Dave and Me

Dave and I are willing to help our children with just about anything.  We had an unusual request from Camille.  She is choosing a caterer for Emilie's wedding, but was in St. George on January 19, 2023, and couldn't attend the monthly "tasting" hosted by Brown Bros. Catering that evening.  "Can you go taste the food and see if it's good?" she asked.  We could and did.
We expected a few plates of "nibbles" at the Memorial House tasting, but the reception hall was filled with young couples and a full dinner buffet, including prime rib, brisket "sliders," baked chicken breasts, an array of "sides" such as mashed potatoes, and dozens of mini desserts.  We happily tasted it all.
Dave and I were the oldest couple there, by 50 years.  The Brown Bros. catering manager circulated among the crowd, explaining prices and taking orders.  Dad whispered, "Why don't we tell her that we're planning our wedding reception and would like the prime rib for 300 guests?"
The "latest thing" in desserts for wedding receptions is a "flaming donut."  A donut is heated in oil and kirsch (cherry brandy), which is then lighted, in a blaze of fire.  It is served with berries, caramel sauce, and a big scoop of ice cream.   If Dad and I were going to re-do our vows at this point, we would certainly need something flamboyant to celebrate with, like a flaming donut!
