Nutcracker Suite

On December 29, 2022, Heidi treated her family, Dave and me, and a few close friends to an accordion concert of selections from Tchaikovsky's "Nutcracker Suite".  Heidi looked beautiful in a golden headress and jumper.  Michael and Heidi's house was also gorgeous on this wintry night.  The high ceilings and white rooms with marble floors sparkled with the light of chandeliers.

Mike and Heidi have bought large, elegant Christmas decorations, such as this Russian paper mache Santa.

This large carving of the three kings giving gifts to the Christ child adorns Mike and Heidi's living room fireplace.

I recognize those Christmas stockings!  Heidi bought them at a Christmas shop in Iceland during our trip together last summer.  The beautiful family photo over the fireplace shows what Mike and Heidi value most.  

During the program, Heidi's mom, Gay Bastian, read selections from The Nutcracker storybook, and then Heidi played pieces from The Nutcracker Suite on her accordion.

Audrey was a great visual aid!  She sat primly next to Gay, holding her baby doll, at the beginning of the program.  As the program went on, Audrey fell asleep in Gay's lap, just like Clara fell asleep in the storybook!

Mike's job was to keep Calder entertained and quiet while Heidi played!
