I am fascinated by Southern history and culture. Martin Luther King Day provides a chance to honor black heroes, many of whom came from the South, and to savor some really good barbecue. We finished the meal with peach cobbler made with my home-canned peaches, accompanied by homemade vanilla ice cream.
Bryce and Kirsten drove up from BYU for the party. It is always a treat to have them visit!
We had kente cloth on the table to symbolize the West African heritage of most of America's blacks. Lily arrives stylishly dressed and then is stripped to her diaper for dinner! She is a favorite visitor, as are her parents, Michael K and Rebekah.
We feel lucky to catch Mike, Heidi, and their family, between their many trips.
Jonny and Jenny are staying with the Leathams while their house is being remodeled. I've encouraged Shelly to let me host her for Sunday dinner while she is doing so much for Jonny and Jenny.
And Jonny is wrastling little kids. Jay is the easiest of their babies, Jonny says, but he can still be a constantly-in-motion handful.
Finally, it was time to go. Heidi has her hands full, as well! She has embraced motherhood with skill and enthusiasm.
