We boarded the Holland America Statendam cruise ship on May 28, 2023. Holland America is our "go-to," mid-price cruise line. It has a staid clientele, with less partying than the Carnival line, and we like its food and entertainment.
As we traveled from Amsterdam to the Atlantic, we passed wind farms along our passage. Europe is ahead of the United States in moving to renewable energy.
Our daily regimen is to eat a light breakfast at the Lido buffet, walk four miles around the deck, and then wait until dinner time to eat the three course dinner in the dining room.
Dave and I became very familiar with Deck 4. We walked around it for four miles each day.
The Statendam hosted an excellent entertainer every night, from a dance troupe to a male quartet to a comedian/magician and even a comedian/concert pianist! Our very favorite entertainment was the piano bar. We listened for an hour or more every night after the big name entertainers. Blair and _____ sang duets and singles of popular songs from different eras and different genres--classic rock, country, blues.
After dinner, we went to sleep to the gentle swinging of the ship as it traveled north towards Norway.
